Birthdays!
Thursday 10-09-2008 1:13pm ET
A few of our favorite musicians were born on this day, October 9th.

Jackson Browne turns 60 today.

John Entwistle, the late WHO bassist, died at age 57 in 2002.

John Lennon would have been 68 today.  It's interesting to note that his son Sean was also born on this day and turns 33.
ZZ TOP
Wednesday 10-08-2008 1:15pm ET
With the recent release of the 25th anniversary edition of their Eliminator album and a fall tour, it would be cool if ZZ TOP had the Eliminator car on tour with them.

Unfortunately, the 1933 Ford Coupe pictured on the album's cover and featured in the band's videos, is currently in a warehouse in San Antonio.  Billy Gibbons bought the car in 1976, but the restoration on it wasn't completed until two months before they finished the album in 1983.  As for why it's called the Eliminator, Gibbons says, "The top eliminator is the highest achievement in drag racing.  You're the top and if you got the eliminator you kind of won it."

Eddie's Engaged
Tuesday 10-07-2008 1:18pm ET
Eddie Van Halen is engaged to his girlfriend and publicist, Janie Liszewski.  He proposed to her in August in Hawaii and wanted to keep it secret, but word got out from a source who spilled the news to People magazine.  They plan on a June wedding.
Of course Eddie was married to Valerie Bertinelli for 26 years.  I always thought Eddie and Valerie resembled eachother.  From the picutre above, his new love looks a bit like him and Valerie, too.  hhhmmmm
Keeping up with Carlos
Monday 10-06-2008 1:53pm ET
Carlos Santana says he would like to retire from the music biz in six years - and become a minister.  In the latest Rolling Stone magazine he says "I'm going to stop playing when I'm 67 and work on what I really want to do, which is be a minister, like Little Richard."
Carlos and company are currently on the Live Your Light tour.  Santana has been playing a new song called, "Peace, Light, Love, Joy."  Concertgoers describe it as a mix of country, reggae and gospel.  Sounds interesting!

R.I.P. Paul Newman
Saturday 09-27-2008 3:40pm ET
He was "Cool Hand Luke", but to filmgoers, he was just plain cool.
Paul Newman has died at age 83.  His publicist says he died yesterday at his farmhouse in Connecticut after a long battle with cancer.
He was married to his wife, actress Joanne Woodward, for 50 years.  A rarity for "hollywood marriages."
Newman was a ten-time Oscar nominee, winning once for "The Color of Money" in 1987.
